CAMPRIZZ is a small, independent camping & travel site. For our buyer guides, we research and synthesize rather than claim to field-test every item. That means we read the verified specs, work through hundreds of real owner reviews across retailers, and weigh credible expert roundups against a consistent set of criteria. The original value we add is the synthesis — cutting through the noise to tell you what actually matters and who each pick is for.
Where we do have genuine first-hand experience, we lean into it: our how-to guides (setting up, waterproofing, cleaning, and folding tents) and our printable camping checklist come from real time spent outdoors, with our own photos and steps.
The honest line: if we haven't personally used something, we won't pretend we have. We'll tell you a pick is based on research, and we'll show you the reasoning. No fabricated scores, no invented “hours tested.”
The sources we weigh
- Verified specs — weight, dimensions, materials, capacities, ratings.
- Real owner reviews — large volumes across multiple retailers, read for patterns (what consistently holds up, what consistently fails).
- Independent expert roundups — credible third-party sources, cross-checked rather than copied.
Our selection criteria
Picks come from criteria applied consistently across a category — not a number we invented:

Why we use “best for” badges, not scores
You'll see labels like Best overall, Best value, and Lightest — not a 9.2/10. A precise number would imply measurement we didn't do. Badges map honestly to our criteria and the patterns in the reviews.
